Ingredients
Walla Walla Sweet onions
Olive oil
A grill
Peel and slice the onions very thick, about an inch.
Heat the grill. Put the Walla Walla Sweets on the grill when it’s ready. Brush with olive oil as necessary.
When the onions are softened slightly and warm, remove them from the grill and enjoy.
Don’t overcook the Walla Walla Sweets. They only need a little grilling to make them even sweeter.

The WSU Energy Program has a leadership role in the Washington Wind Working Group, a coordinated effort to plan for large wind systems in Washington state. This participation is integral in determining the industry’s future.
One of the program’s specific tasks is in the development of detailed wind maps for the region. This effort, known as The Northwestern U.S. Wind Mapping Project, updates data and mapping methods to accurately reflect the Northwests wind resources.

About the cover: Stone City West by Robin Moline
The cover illustration for Washington State Magazine’s Fall 2010 issue—Cultivated Landscapes—pays homage to Grant Wood’s famous Stone City, Iowa painting of 1930. It was Wood’s first major landscape and is now on permanent display at Omaha’s Joslyn Art Museum. Wood is most closely associated with the American movement of Regionalism and advanced figurative painting of rural American themes in an aggressive rejection of European abstraction.

Eclectic Approach, a funk-rock Seattle band that includes Jowed Hadeed ’06, Ryan Jander ‘06 and Tony Poston ’07, released its third studio album, “Jump Into Life,” in June.
