The new Pac-12 Conference launched on July 1, with a group of fiercely competitive schools joining Washington State University and Oregon State University in the hunt for championships in football, basketball, soccer, baseball, volleyball, and more.

At WSU, new leaders and returning coaches across athletics will guide Cougs to future success. They face some tough challenges in the rapidly changing world of college sports, but they’re determined to keep the student-athlete experience as the top priority.

Here are some of the new Coug sports leaders:

 

Athletic Director Jon Haarlow

Haarlow became the 16th person to lead WSU Athletics in April. He was chief financial officer for Cougar Athletics since 2021 and has 15 years of experience in college athletics.

 

Head Football Coach Kirby Moore

WSU named Kirby Moore as the 36th head football coach in December 2025. Moore brings an innovative offensive background and strong ties to eastern Washington. He grew up in Prosser and played wide receiver at Boise State University before moving to coaching.

 

Head Soccer Coach Chris Citowicki

Chris Citowicki became head coach of Cougar soccer in December 2025. Citowicki brings a record of success and student-athlete development from his tenure at the University of Montana.
